Contact: John Mastorakos
Assistant: Lori Rozeboom
John specializes in resolving matrimonial, parenting and civil matters. He has a diverse client base, from a wide range of economic and social backgrounds. He initiates and defends most types of civil proceedings, including contract disputes, estate litigation and disagreements involving real property. Many of his files are referrals from other lawyers.
John's focus is on communication – with clients, between parties, among counsel, and in Court when required. A similar approach is used when he provides mediation services, both on his own and with a local parenting counsellor, to assist families and their legal counsel in achieving co-operative and cost-saving solutions. His experience and success in court, which includes a five-week construction lien trial in Kingston resulting in a substantial damages award for his client, provides the basis for his problem-solving and litigation strategies.
After articling at a Bay Street law firm, John followed his plan of returning to Hastings County for lifestyle, family and the spacious outdoors. He has been a partner since 2004 and enjoys his role as the firm's Articling Principal. He is one of only two lawyers to be named as an Honourary Director of Hastings County Law Association and he served on the Board of Directors of Three Oaks Women's Shelter in Belleville. His personal time is primarily spent with his wife Tanya and their two energetic sons.
